A Message from our Founders

Marigold Community Learning was founded out of necessity for our children to have an enriched learning environment, with loving, attentive educators.

Founders Candice and Laura were both former Green School Parents with children in Kindy and Starlings in 2019. When the COVID pandemic struck the world, they began to envision a new kind of education - a small, learner-centered environment for their children. It was then that they got to work creating Marigold Community Learning. Starting with 4 children in Candice’s house, the small homeschool’s student base began to grow as more families were keen to have in-person learning in a mask free environment. They were encouraged by the parents, who LOVED what they had created and although creating a formal school was not the original intention, Candice and Laura reached a fork in the road that led them to formalize the program. As the program has grown, the learning program has developed beautifully in collaboration with our teaching team. The new location in Pererenan has been created with love and care with the needs of children in mind and is conveniently located for families. The founders continually evolve the space based on student, teacher and parent input. Their goal has always been to create a beautiful, safe, enriching learning environment.

Candice

I am a loving mother of two children, Poppy and Hugo. Though I am an Australian native, my family created our home in Bali 11 years ago. Many people in Bali are familiar with our beloved restaurants in The Good Food Brotherhood. The journey of becoming an educator has been such an enriching experience for me as I am enabled with executing a vision for children to learn in a safe, supportive, nurturing environment. Previously, I have worked as a health and fitness coach with many years experience.

Laura

I am a loving mother of Haven and have been a Bali resident for 5 years. Having left San Francisco, California after a successful career in technology, I was ready to settle in a place that gave me the opportunity spend more quality time with my family, surround myself in nature and focus on my dreams and passions. I never envisioned that I would found a school, but as time went on I began to realize that this was my calling. It became clear to me that the world needs a better way to educate our children, a way to learn academics but to also learn fundamentals in a non-competitive way. Though I am not an educator by trade, I am a life-long learner and have always loved academia! My academic background was focused on engineering and I have a masters degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University in California.
